North Yorkshire family history fair

North Yorkshire's County Record Office is hosting a family history fair this Saturday at The Pavilions of Harrogate from 10.00am until 4.00pm, admission being £1.

This exciting event will include a local and family history fair with over 30 society and trade stands, screening of rare films from the Yorkshire Film Archive, advice from the professionals and a family history help desk.

A programme of talks will be held throughout the day, each costing £3.00 and bookable in advance:

• 10.15 Researching your Yorkshire Ancestors by Jackie Depelle (family history tutor)
• 11.00 Yorkshire Film Archive introduce 'Family Film Tree' - a new genealogy website by Graham Relton (archive manager YFA)
• 11.15 Family History and the Media in the 21st century: behind the scenes of Who do You Think You Are? by Nick Barratt (TV personality and editor of Your Family History magazine)
• 12.15 Sick in Body but Perfect in Remembrance: wills for local and family history research by Marion Moverley (adult education tutor)
• 1.15 A Muddy History of Britain - a local view by Gillian Hovell (landscape historian and writer)
• 2.00 Yorkshire Film Archive introduce 'Family Film Tree' - a new genealogy website by Graham Relton (archive manager YFA)
• 2.15 Researching Harrogate - some documentary sources by Malcolm Neesam (Harrogate historian)
• 3.15 Registration for Family Historians by Barbara Dixon (former registrar of births, deaths and marriages)
