Did Jesus have a wife?

Occasionally you may find that your family tree has a few irritating gaps, that if you had genealogical evidence for you could plug and help complete the story. But one piece of evidence for a particular family tree may be about to torpedo the religion of Christianity big style.

Researchers at Harvard University have analysed a fragment of 4th century papyrus that they have ascertained is not a forgery, which mentions that Jesus Christ had a wife. The implications, if correct, are huge - celibacy in marriage being just one particular issue likely to be affected. The BBC has the story at www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19645273.

Heading now for the air raid shelters...!
