Major boost for Derry's archives and maritime museum

The Heritage Lottery Fund has announced that a major new project to create a dedicated Maritime Museum and Archive Centre at Ebrington on Derry's Waterside has passed the first hurdle. As a part of the project, the city's current archive facility will be given a new home, which is significant in that a lot of the collection is currently inaccessible, despite it being the largest archive in Northern Ireland outside of PRONI.

The full announcement is available at www.hlf.org.uk/news/Pages/MajorboostforMaritimeMuseum.aspx#.URJX4B3clPw
