All change at Your Family History magazine

Issue 44 of Your Family History magazine has just gone on sale, and this month is a Scottish based special, including tips for the Homecoming next year, the ScotlandsPeople Centre and more. There's even a two page piece on some eejit in Scotland by the name of Paton, and a mention of the new Scottish Genealogy Network...!

The big news for this issue however, is that this is the last edition of Your Family History - at least in its current format. From the September issue it is to be renamed Discover Your History (the name it currently already has for its overseas edition), but fundamentally the biggest change of all is the departure of its two heid yins - Nick Barratt and Laura Berry.

Nick took on a new job at the National Archives at Kew at the start of this year, and has slowly been extracting himself from the family history world (to a degree! - he notes in his final column that he will remain as President of the FFHS and as a trustee for the Society of Genealogists, as well as still give occasional talks); whilst Laura has exciting times ahead, studying for a new postgraduate course in architectural history at Oxford.

I've written a few articles for the mag in the past, and always found the team brilliant to work for - Nick should appear in some kind of accountancy based western film, he is certainly the fastest man alive at paying invoices, and Laura was always great for commissioning articles beyond the usual suspects in terms of subjects. Both are moving on to bigger and better things - but for the moment, a big personal thank you to both and the very best of luck for the road ahead...!
