Valentines and paternity cases

The National Records of Scotland has placed a case study online of a paternity case from 1880, in which paternity of a child was fought over and a Victorian Valentine card produced in court as evidence of the accused's interest in the woman who gave birth to his daughter. It's a fascinating example of how to research cases of paternity in the sheriff court records, as well as the use of other sources such as the register for Corrected Entries.
