The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (www.proni.gov.uk) has released a handy new resources document, entitled Guide to the manuscript sources for the study of the First World War in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland.
The document lists all sorts of materials (with catalogue numbers) held at the archive concerning the conflict, including war memorial lists, estate papers, photographic collections, Ulster Women’s Unionist Council Papers, logbooks and journals, Central Council for the organisation of Recruiting in Ireland papers, UVF Hospital papers, and lots, lots more.
The guide is 38 pages long, extremely well illustrated with samples from various collections, and a valuable resource for those with Northern Irish ancestors who were caught up in the war. It can be accessed through the Online Guides and Indexes tab from the home screen, or directly via http://www.proni.gov.uk/first_word_war_sources_1.0_july_2014.pdf.
A conference will also take place on September 5th to help publicise the guide.
