Family History Library Classes and Webinars - April 2019

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (March 29, 2019), The FamilySearch Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, has announced its free classes and webinars for April 2019. The main focus this month will be on learning how to use DNA in genealogical research. Several beginner classes address how to add information to your family tree, tips and tricks to find elusive ancestors, and how to find Polish ancestry. Participants can attend in-person or online. No registration is required.

FamilySearch.org and Family Tree Classes will be offered every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. MDT throughout the month of April.

If you are unable to attend a class in person or online, most sessions are recorded and can be viewed later online at your convenience at Family History Library classes and webinars. Online classes are noted on the schedule as webinars. Webinar attendees need to click the link next to the class title at the scheduled date and time to attend the class online. Those attending in person simply go to the room noted. Invite your family and friends.

All classes are in mountain daylight time (MDT).

NIFHS announces an extra DNA class

From the North of Ireland Family History Society (www.nifhs.org):

NIFHS announce extra DNA class

The North of Ireland Family History Society run a series of classes each spring and autumn to help family historians. The DNA classes have been particularly popular and have booked up very quickly, so the society has arranged an extra beginners’ class starting in November. It is aimed at helping people who have received their autosomal DNA results from Family Tree DNA, or those who have transferred in their results from other companies such as Ancestry, MyHeritage and 23andMe.

The society also advises that there are still a few places on other courses starting soon so get your skates on if you would like to book your place!


· Family Finder. Learn how to use DNA tools to further your family history research.
Monday 19th November, 7pm, 3 weeks.

· From Family Tree to Family History. Developing your family tree into a readable story.
Tuesday 6th November, 11am, 3 weeks.

· Sharing Your Family History. Using PowerPoint to create a “talking book” to share with your family.
Tuesday 13 November, 7 pm, 1 class.

All classes take place at the society’s Library and Resource Centre in Newtownabbey, just north of Belfast.

Salt Lake City, Utah (26 April 2018), The Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, has announced its free family history classes and webinars for May 2018. Check out the US Mid-South Region, Place Names in Sweden, English Church Records, Indexed Records for the Netherlands, and (Spanish) Connecting FamilySearch and Ancestry Family Trees webinars. Participants can attend in person or online. See the calendar below for the complete list. No registration is required.

Weekly webinars are organized along the following track schedule throughout the month:

Mondays—FamilySearch Catalog at 10:00 a.m. MDT

Tuesdays—FamilySearch.org and Family Tree Classes at 10:00 a.m. MDT

Wednesdays—Indexing Classes at 10:00 a.m. MDT

Thursdays—Research Classes at 1:00 p.m. MDT

Free FamilySearch classes and webinars for July

FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org) has announced the following timetable for free genealogy classes and webinars in July. Here's the blurb:

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (June 28, 2017),  The Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, has announced its free family history classes and webinars for July 2017. Participants can attend in person or online. Many of the July classes teach beginners how to research using historic records in various countries and languages. See the table below for the full schedule of offerings. Mark your calendars for events you want to join so you don't forget. Easily find and share this announcement online in the FamilySearch Newsroom.

Online classes are noted on the schedule as webinars. Webinar attendees need to click the link next to the class title at the scheduled date and time to attend the class online (no preregistration). Those attending in person simply go to the room noted in the Library. Invite your family, friends, and colleagues. All class times are in mountain standard time (MST).
