More industrial action to hit archives

Bookmark April 5th - looks like the unions will be back out on strike. The National Archives at Kew (www.nationalarchives.gov.uk) is advising that its services are again likely to be disrupted in another nationwide strike from the Public and Commercial Services Union (http://nationalarchives.gov.uk/news/825.htm). No words as yet from Scotland or from other institutions in the UK, but if there is a strike, it will be another national one. Further details when I get them!

Industrial action to affect TNA

From the National Archives (http://nationalarchives.gov.uk/news/708.htm)

Due to nationwide industrial action by the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) on Thursday 10 May, The National Archives will offer a reduced service to the public on this day.

Document delivery will take longer (up to two hours) and there will be delays to readers' ticket registration. We will close early at 17:00 on this day.

Delays are inevitable, and we therefore strongly advise visitors not to visit on 10 May unless absolutely essential.

COMMENT - I'm not sure how widespread this may be, whether just to TNA, to England, or UK wide, so do check with any archives you plan to visit on that date to be sure of getting service!  Please also be aware that TNA is closed from Sat 5th to Mon 7th inclusive for the bank holiday - reopening Tuesday 8th.
