Dublin based Eneclann (www.eneclann.ie) has traced the family tree of actor Tom Cruise.
Fiona Fitzsimons, who researched his ancestry commented:
This was one of the more interesting, certainly the most unexpected family histories that we've ever been commissioned to research. The key to successfully tracing Tom Cruise's family history was to find the person who was the link between Ireland and America. Using the records on findmypast we were able to move seamlessly between the U.S. and the Irish records. We traced an 'online' paper trail for Tom's family back to the late 1700s/ early 1800s. We then switched to the records held in the archives to trace the Cruise, Mapother and related families back to key events in Irish history including the Tudor Conquest and the Anglo-Norman invasion.
The full report, as presented to Tom earlier today, can now be found on the Eneclann website at www.eneclann.ie/exhibitions/tomcruise. The research was carried out by Eneclann’s genealogists Fiona Fitzsimons and Helen Moss.
(With thanks to Eneclann)
