I'd not heard of it until I got the email, but MyFamily.com is about to close. It's part of the Ancestry.com family, but it's being sacrificed so that Ancestry can concentrate on its main product. I don't know if many people here in the UK and Ireland have ever used the service, but if you did, here's part of the blurb from the email:
Starting on September 5, 2014, MyFamily.com will no longer be available.
We understand the value this service has provided to keep your family connected during your time as a subscriber. To keep the family memories you’ve gathered on MyFamily.com, please log in to your MyFamily group site and request an export by clicking on the “Export Now” button located at the top of the page.
There are other services that may provide one or more of the features that MyFamily.com offered, for example:
ThisLife by Shutterfly
Carousel - the gallery from Dropbox
Chatbooks
For further questions, please visit our FAQ page or contact Member Services at 888-265-7491 or myfamilysupport@custhelp.com.
Hope it helps!
UPDATE: Looks like a few other sevices are for the chop as well, including MyCanvas and Ancestry's DNA services - see Thomas MacEntee's post at http://geneabloggers.com/ancestrycom-pulls-plug-sites and Debbie Kennett's blog post (see comments below)

Now available for UK research is the new second edition of the best selling Tracing Your Family History on the Internet: A Guide for Family Historians, whilst my new book British and Irish Newspapers is also now out. And FindmyPast - please reinstate the original Scottish census citations on your new site.
It's not just MyFamily that Ancestry are closing down. They are retiring a number of their services including their Y-DNA and mtDNA tests. I've written a blog post with further details: http://cruwys.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/ancestrycom-announcement-regarding.html
ReplyDeleteHaving run a private family site of over 100 members on myfamily.com for over 13 years I am extremely disappointed with this news. I have a phenomenal amount of info on our family history contained on the site, most of which will now be lost in a form that is readable. Does anyone know of any other similar site that is not exclusively based on photographs?
ReplyDeleteI just called ancestry.com and was told several of their sites were maliciously hacked, and they are working on correcting everything and they will come back up. she did not provide any estimated time. she confirmed though the myfamily.com site is not down permanently yet.
ReplyDeletewhen the site was up I was copying one photo at times off in a large format onto a new photosharing site and copying the photo info. hopefully, their will be up again soon.
rootsweb.com is definetly going to be retired effective 5/sept/2014 that is what i was told on the phone by an ancestry.com worker.
ReplyDeletethe following sites will be no more
1.rootsweb.com
2.genforum.com
3.mundia.com
4.myfamily.com
5.Y-DNA and mtDNA
the only website that will remain is findagrave.com
