FamilySearch update for England and Wales

FamilySearch (www.familysearch.org) has made a few additions:

England:
  • England and Wales Census, 1871 - Added 383,591 browsable images (accessible at LDS family history centres; otherwise a redirect to FindmyPast) and 6,844,017 indexed records to existing collection.
  • England, Kent, Parish Registers, 1538-1911 - New browsable image collection, comprised of 100,542 images.
  • England, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Parish Registers, 1603-1910 - Added 9,973 indexed records to existing collection.

Wales:
  • Wales, Glamorgan Parish Registers, 1558-1900 - New indexed collection, 921,889 records.
  • Wales, Probate Abstracts, 1544-1858 - Added 4,891 browsable images to existing collection.

USA:
  • The US 1940 federal census is now about a third of the way through being indexed - to be completed this summer.

  1. Unfortunately the Kent Parish Registers can only be viewed at Family Search Centres. Presumably a condition of the owner of the records. How do we lobby to get them released?
