Parochial history of Mullingar digitised

The Representative Church Body of Ireland's Library in Dublin has added a digitised copy to its side of A Parochial History of Mullingar, compiled by the Revd William Reynell, 13th–19th Centuries, as its Archive of the Month offering. The work is essentially a scrapbook of sorts of a variety of sources, running to some 300 pages, as compiled by Rev Reynell.

New hours at the RCB Library in Dublin from February

The Dublin based Representative Church Body Library (www.ireland.anglican.org/about/rcb-library), which hosts records from the Anglican based Church of Ireland, has announced new opening hours from February, as follows:

Commencing in February 2019, members of the public are advised that access to the Archives and Manuscripts Collections in the Library is restricted to four days per week: Monday to Thursday.

Opening hours remain the same: 9.30am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm with last orders for manuscripts and archives at 4.30pm each evening (Mon–Thurs) but going forward there will be NO access to Archives and Manuscripts on Fridays.

This will allow us to consolidate limited staff time, and facilitate our work on digitization.

Access to the Printed Collection for ordinands, clergy and Library Members is not affected by this change, with the Printed Collections being available five days per week, and Library services for books remain unchanged.

The Representative Church Body Library in Dublin has just placed online further parish registers indexes, this time for Newtownbarry (Bunclody) Union, which includes records for the following parish churches:

More Anglican records from RCBL in Ireland

The Representative Church Body Library in Dublin has announced the release of transcribed Anglican parish records for Delgany in Wicklow, as part of a response to their disappointment at the stalling of the brilliant and free to access Irish Genealogy site at www.irishgenealogy.ie, which was being produced in collaboration with the Irish Government.

The library is now planning over the next few months to start issuing online transcripts via PDF files of various records from other parts of the country, starting with Delgany, thanks to the efforts of regular visitor to the library Mark Williams over the last ten years, who has been working hard at making transcriptions of them for his Anglican Record Project. Irish Church Directory 1862 now online

The Representative Church Body Library (http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42) in Dublin has released a digitised edition online of the first ever copy of the Irish Church Directory. From its site:

With the onset of the decade of commemorations, it is appropriate that we should mark the 150th anniversary of the first edition of an auspicious Church of Ireland publication – the Irish Church Directory (now the Church of Ireland Directory) published annually since 1862. For September’s Archive of the Month, the RCB Library has digitized all 192 pages of the very first edition, as published by James Charles, proprietor and publisher of Irish Ecclesiastical Gazette – forerunner of the Church of Ireland Gazette from its premises at 61 Middle Abbey Street Dublin, in 1862.
