Buckinghamshire Family History Society Open Day 2016

Will take place in 2016 on Saturday 23rd July, from 10am to 4pm at The Grange School, Wendover Way, Aylesbury HP21 7NH.

This is Buckinghamshire's major family history event and the day when all of the Society's research libraries will be available in one place, including our Buckinghamshire names database, containing well over five million entries. Let us help you track down that elusive ancestor.

Parish register transcripts and other Society publications will be on sale, and there will be lots of help and advice from friendly, experienced family historians.

It's also your opportunity to talk to guest family history societies from around the country. Alongside them will be archives, museums, local history groups and the customary range of suppliers of maps, books, software, archival materials and other services.

Entry is free, and tea and coffee will be available, so why not bring a packed lunch and make a day of it.

Free parking is available at the venue, or by bus from Aylesbury bus station take Arriva service 50 towards Wendover, alighting on Wendover Road opposite Chaucer Drive, about eight minutes walk.

From about Easter we'll be updating our website to list all the organizations attending. Check out it out regularly.

Buckinghamshire Family History Society Open Day 2015

Buckinghamshire's major family history event will take place in 2015 on Saturday 25th July, from 10am to 4pm at The Grange School, Wendover Way, Aylesbury HP21 7NH.

This free event will have something for everyone - whether you are a beginner or an experienced researcher - and wherever your ancestors came from.

The Society’s research facilities will be available, including our Names Database (over 5 million names), Parish Register library, Bucks People (genealogies, histories, documents), and Bucks Places. Let us help you track down those elusive ancestors. Our bookstall will carry parish register transcripts and other research aids for sale, and there will be lots of free help and advice available.

There will be the opportunity to meet guest family history societies from around the country, representatives of local history societies, and a wide range of commercial suppliers of maps and books, software, archival materials and services.

Tea and coffee will be available; why not bring a packed lunch and make a day of it ?

Bristol and Avon Family History Society Open Day

The Bristol and Avon Family History Society Open Day takes place this coming Saturday 27th September - see http://www.bafhs.org.uk/events/icalrepeat.detail/2014/09/27/1631/-/bristol-a-avon-fhs-open-day.

Apparently the event only takes lace every two years, so if in the Bristol area, pop along - it takes place at my old university, the University of the West of England, in the Frenchay campus at Coldharbour Lane, from 10am-4pm.

The North of Ireland Family History Society is hosting an Open Day at its Research Centre and Library in Newtownabbey this Saturday 23rd August from 10.30am-4.30pm. The cenre is located at Unit C4, Valley Business Centre, 67 Church Road, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim, BT36 7LS.

Isle of Man family history open day

There will be a family history open day on the Isle of Man this coming Saturday between noon and 8pm at the Church of Jesus Christ and Latterday Saints on Woodbourne Road, Douglas. The event is supported by the Isle of Man Family History Society and the Manx National Heritage’s iMuseum.

The North of Ireland Family History Society is holding an open day at its Research Centre and Library on Saturday 31st August from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.

The library has a lot of resources that may be helpful to you so come along to see what you can find out! Our volunteers will be there to assist you. Everyone is welcome. Come along and chat to others interested in searching for their roots.
