Update on National Archives podcasts

Thanks to reader Jacqui Kirk (@genealgenie) who on the back of my recent post about the lack of TNA podcasts in recent months (see http://britishgenes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/has-national-archives-stopping.html) contacted the archive's User Advisory Group to enquire as to the reason. The reply was that it is all down to recent staff changes, but with a promise to add more soon.

As if to make good on that promise, a new podcast has been uploaded, the first since January. It is a talk just under 45 minutes long by Heidi Thomas entitled Researching Call the Midwife, and available to listen to at http://media.nationalarchives.gov.uk/index.php/heidi-thomas-researching-call-midwife/ or via iTunes.

Incidentally, the National Archives is advertyising for a new Collections Knowledge Manager, to help with the management of its online systems - full job specs at https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/jobs.cgi?jcode=1491644, the deadline for applications is June 1st.

Eneclann seeks new brand manager

Irish family history, history and heritage firm Eneclann (www.eneclann.ie) is advertising for a new brand manager to be based in Dublin.

The advert notes that they are seeking "a candidate with strong managerial and networking skills to help assist in establishing a new family history web service and associated visitor centre in the stunning CHQ building in Dublin. This will include working alongside a team in dealing with website development and maintenance. It will also involve recruiting and managing a small team to operate a purpose built centre in Dublin in 2016. Ideally the candidate should enjoy working with customers, off and online, to create a rewarding and memorable experience."

New Registrar General for Scotland advertisement

I don't have much on this just now, as I am overseas at present, but thanks to Ken Nisbet for letting me know that today's Scotsman newspaper is now advertising for a new Registrar General for Scotland, at a salary of £75,000.
