Happy days! The British Newspaper Archive (www.britishnewsarchive.co.uk) has added the Belfast Telegraph to its latest additions. At this point, the year 1881 only has been added, but hopefully this will become substantially expanded over the next few weeks and months.
As a young lad I used to deliver the Belfast Telegraph to houses in Carrickfergus. Known colloquially as the 'Tele', and with its sporting sidekick on Saturday, Ireland's Saturday Night (the 'pink paper'), the job kept me in employment after schools and at weekends, and out of mischief, for most of my teenage years!
