Here is something I have just come across via Twitter - the Wales Ireland Scotland England Family History Society, aka, W.I.S.E, based in Denver, Colorado. The site's website has a list of forthcoming meetings at www.wise-fhs.org/meetings.html
Not quite a local effort, but I liked the acronym, so it gets an honorable mention! :)
