5 week course from Northumberland and Durham Family History Society

Northumberland and Durham Family History Society (www.ndfhs.org.uk) is running a five week long family history course from September 14th - October 12th at its Library and Research Centre, Percy House, Newcastle, England. The price is £35.

From the society's website:

The aim of the course is to enable you to:
  • learn how to extract information from the basic records;
  • develop the skills to enable you to link one record to another to help advance your knowledge of your ancestors;
  • understand how to record the information accrued through your research;
  • build your family tree.

14th September 2016 (Week 1)
Introduction to the course; Civil Registration

21st September 2016 (Week 2)
Parish Registers

28th September 2016 (Week 3)
Census Returns 1841-1911

5th October 2016 (Week 4)
Trade Directories, Electoral Registers, and Newspapers

12th October 2016 (Week 5)
Wills

Timetable:
10.30 am to 12.30 pm—Instruction as above
1.00 pm to 2.00 pm—Using the Society’s Percy House facilities with support
Course Fee: £35.00 payable by cheque to “NDFHS”
