War of 1812 Pensions Project fully funded

A major announcement from the Federation of Genealogical Societies conference in the United States has just been made by society president Joshua Taylor with regards to the War of 1812 Pensions Project (www.preservethepensions.org). The project was set up 6 years ago to raise funds to digitise and provide free access to the records (comprised of 7.2 million pages) which are currently held by the US national archive, NARA (www.archives.gov).

The announcement is that an anonymous donor has just donated US$500,000 to the fundraiser, which has been matched by Ancestry, taking the amount raised to the required total to fund the project.

More soon!
