Ancestry.com up for sale?

Ancestry.com, the parent company of Ancestry.co.uk, looks to be up for sale. Bloomberg News is reporting that the company is working with Qatalyst Partners LLC to find potential buyers. The piece has lots of speculation about prospective buyers such as Facebook or Google, but little more than that, other than the fact that the company's value is apparently at a two year low on the stock market.

  1. This doesn't surprise me. Don't know what they are doing in the UK, but in North America they are marketing like crazy. Tons of ads on TV. What do you think this will mean for price of our subscriptions? What about the quality of the databases and transcriptions?
