The National Archives latest podcast from Kew concerns coroners inquests, the enquiries carried out in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the event of sudden death. The podcast is a lecture given by Kathy Chater and lasts just under 55 minutes. It can be accessed at http://media.nationalarchives.gov.uk/index.php/coroners-inquests/ or downloaded from iTunes.
(NB: Scotland does not use coroners. Instead, sudden deaths are investigated by the procurator fiscal, whilst some Fatal Accident Enquiries have been held since 1895 through the sheriff courts - for more on these see www.nas.gov.uk/guides/FAI.asp)
