Whilst in Belfast yesterday I briefly had a chance to discuss the new GRO Northern Ireland records website with a member of the GRO's staff. (News of the project was broken on this blog in June - see http://britishgenes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/gro-northern-ireland-to-set-up.html).
The project is definitely still happening, but it may be that the project and the site is dealt with in phases - there are a few legislative provisions that need to be looked at along the way. The upshot of that really is that it may not be the case that an all-singing, all-dancing ScotlandsPeople type website is suddenly launched in its entirety one day, but one that takes a more evolutionary approach. It's still very early days though in terms of procuring a commercial partner etc, so lots still to be decided.
Watch this space!
