Lower Canada censuses 1825 and 1842 on Ancestry

Ancestry ( has added the following two censuses to its Canadian holdings, which may be of interest if you had emigrant ancestors heading over the Atlantic in the early 19th century.

Canada, Lower Canada Census, 1825

Lower Canada was a former British colony situated along the St Lawrence River that covered the southern portion of the modern-day province of Quebec and the Labrador region of modern-day Newfoundland and Labrador.

These collections were digitised by FamilySearch (, and can also be freely searched there.
