The latest podcast from the National Archives in England is entitled
Using the 1939 Register: Recording the UK population before the war. It's a fairly lengthy but comprehensive talk at an hour and 5 minutes in length from Audrey Collins. Whilst specifically looking at the returns for England and Wales from the 1939 National Identity Register, it may also be of interest to those wishing to understand more about the Scottish and Northern Irish equivalents.
