BRIDPORT: Trace your family history
A BEGINNERS course in tracing your family history will be held at the Marsh Barton Centre this month.
Previous students on the courses have discovered some surprising secrets from the past, including one lady who found she shared a great-grandmother with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
The ‘Getting back to 1837’ course will take place on Saturday, October 8th and 22nd. The course will teach you how to research your family history, looking at birth, death and marriage certificates and the Census records from 1841 to 1911.
Other courses include pre 1837 records, refresher, organising, presenting and writing up your family history. A series of one-day specials will cover topics like Dorset, London and military ancestors.
All the courses are hosted at Marsh Barn on the Burton Road in Bridport, they run from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch. Tea and coffee provided. Two-day courses cost £45 and one-day courses are £22.50.
