Unlock the Past books and cruises

For the last few years I've been working with Australian based company Unlock the Past (www.unlockthepast.com.au), which publishes books, holds events across Australia and in recent times has also ventured into the world of genealogy cruising.

I've just had my latest book published by them, entitled Discover Scottish Civil Registration Records, my third in a series of books looking at aspects of Scottish family research, and hopefully in a wee bit more detail than is usually the norm in Scottish genealogy books. I've recorded a short introduction video about this book (and its predecessors), as well as to discuss a bit more about the cruises the company runs - not least because UTP is coming to our half of the planet in the very near future!

Here's the craic...!

My wife Claire is planning to swim from the Scottish island of Cumbrae to the town of Largs on September 14th to raise money for local charity Gillian's Saltire Appeal, providing respite for families affected by cancer (Claire's mum and sister in Ireland have previously come through cancer, whilst my mum, based in England, currently has bladder cancer). Her Just Giving sponsorship page, with further details, is at http://www.justgiving.com/Claire-Paton1. If you can help to sponsor her, even by a wee amount, we'd be very grateful - many thanks!
