Devon archives hours changes

Thanks to Beryl Evans at the Federation of Family History Societies (www.ffhs.org.uk) and Tim Wormleighton at Devon Record Office:

Please note that from 1st April 2012 the Devon Record Office in Exeter will be closed on Mondays and the North Devon Record Office in Barnstaple will be closed on Wednesdays.

NB: From the archive's website at www.devon.gov.uk/record_office.htm, an explanation for the change:

These changes will allow us to focus on improving public access to our collections by concentrating on digitisation, increasing online availability of documents, reducing our cataloguing backlogs and working with communities to develop access to their archives.
