A hearty congratulations to
Jan Gow of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, who has been awarded the Queen's Service Medal in New Zealand for services to genealogical research. Jan was one of the speakers on the recent Unlock the Past genealogical cruise of New Zealand and Australia, and also attended many of the shore based events en route. In addition to her work with the NZSG, Jan also runs Hooked on genealogy Tours and Beehive Books.
Here is Jan, second from right, in a picture taken of all the speakers before the last cruise lecture...
And here's a sneaky pic I took showing her (middle) helping to get the UTP stall ready in Little River near Akaroa!
Congratulations Jan!
(With thanks to Gould Genealogy for the heads up on Facebook - a full list of New Zealand honours is available at www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10775793)
