The Lost Edinburgh Facebook page has returned! The popular page, with almost 20,000 followers, was taken offline in August when the Royal Commission for the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland refused to grant permission for its images to be used, citing the fact that to do so would grant all copyright rights to Facebook. The RCAHMS issued a press release on August 22nd explaining its position, which I carried on the Scottish GENES blog at http://scottishancestry.blogspot.com/2011/08/rcahms-explains-lost-edinburgh-position.html
Lost Edinburgh is now back up and running, with the following announcement made on Facebook on Christmas Eve:
Hello folks! Just a quick message to let you know we are still here, and we'll be coming back properly in January - Just thought we'd touch base with you all as well as to wish all our supporters & followers a very Merry Xmas and an excellent New Year!! Lots more news to come in the following weeks. We'll keep the page open until Boxing day. Apologies for the small amount of material, it's taken a while to get even this far! (And yes, we do have complete permission for all the current photos we've got up at the moment :P ) Have a great Xmas Eve too - Dave & Mike
