Glasgow crew lists 1863-1901 go online

A new release form Ancestry (www.ancestry.co.uk) sees some Glasgow crew lists from 1863-1901 go online, apparently sourced from Glasgow City Archives.

This database contains crew lists, agreements, certificates of discharge, and some related documents for 11 ships that landed at Glasgow’s ports. The ships were:
  • Bornu

  • Hispania
  • Galoon
  • Clydesdale
  • Persia
  • Cherokee

Details available vary depending on the document, but you may learn the following:
  • ship name
  • arrival date

  • birth year
  • nationality
  • address
  • ship last served on and year of discharge
  • date and place joined present ship
  • position on ship
  • wages
  • date and place of discharge
