DNA tests from The Genealogist

TheGenealogist website (www.thegenealogist.co.uk) has a new DNA page on its site, with the vendor offering tests provided by FamilyTree DNA (www.familytreedna.com). Mitochondrial DNA and Y-DNA tests are each available from £64.95, and autosomal tests from £217.95.

For further details visit www.thegenealogist.co.uk/dna/index.phpThe site offers details on the individual tests, but does not really explain the science behind DNA testing, so you may need to visit the FamilyTree DNA site for some additional background info to help explain it all!

UPDATE: TheGenealogist now has an article online at www.thegenealogist.co.uk/featuredarticles/jul12_dna_testing.php explaining what it is all about to some extent, though a key point still missing is that your test's results are only of use when matched against someone else's results to see how close or not a match might be.
