IHGS military course in Canterbury

Forthcoming course in Canterbury from the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (www.ihgs.ac.uk):

Military Records - Army, RAF and Royal Navy
13th October 2012

Most of us will have ancestors who served in the armed forces at some time. Military records can give invaluable insight not only into your ancestor's life whilst in the military but can also give essential genealogical information to help extend your family tree. The course will cover records from the 18th-21st centuries and will discuss both online and original sources.

The day will be led by Les Mitchinson, a professional genealogist and Tutor on The Institute's Correspondence Course, who also specialises in military records.

The course timetable is as follows:-

10.15 Registration
10.30-10.45 Introduction
10.45-12.30 Army Records
12.30-1.00 RAF Records

2.00 - 4.00 Naval and RM Records
4.00 - 4.30 Tea
