Bank of England archive catalogue online

Thanks to genealogist Simon Fowler for the following news from Lorna Williams of the Bank of England Archive:

We are pleased to announce that from today the Bank of England Archive Catalogue is available online. For the first time you will be able to search the descriptions of over 56,000 open records from any computer, at any time.

A new feature which has been developed for the online catalogue is the Name search which links to a database of biographies about senior staff and departments of the Bank, and other organisations related to the Bank. As well as giving useful contextual information, each biography is attached to all the relevant records in the catalogue. All this allows more focussed searching at the touch of a button.
