SMGF and GeneTree developments

Steven Perkins has important news at http://jgg-online.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/status-of-sorenson-molecular.html for those who have had DNA tests carried out in the past through the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, concerning the fact that many of those worked for the company have now moved to Ancestry.com - and apparently taken the databases with them, with the exception of autosomal DNA test results. GeneTree results have not been transferred however.

When I tested through the SMGF 5 years ago I was under the impression it was for academic research, so quite why the results are now on a commercial database is anyone's guess - but you can apparently have your data removed from Ancestry. The data is still available also at the SMGF site.

(With thanks to Alasdair MacDonald at the Scottish DNA Project blog)
